Get ready for 72 hours worth of Premium exclusive double XP the first weekend when all Premium members can play End Game.

Your sum total for every round will be effectively doubled, visible at the End of Round screen. This applies to any map and any mode on Ranked servers (not just in End Game). Enjoy!

EA plans BF 4 reveal in about 90 days

Electronic Arts has revealed that in about 90 days they plan to reveal Battlefield 4. The exciting thing about this news is the very likely reveal of the title on next generation platforms, meaning the Xbox Next and the PlayStation 4.

The publisher has teased a little about the next offering in the Battlefield franchise, but the news seem to reinforce the rumors that both Microsoft and Sony will have taken the wraps off their next generation consoles by late April timeframe.

So far, beyond the admission from developer DICE that the Frostbite engine was built to scale to the next generation platforms when released, little is known about Battlefield 4 other than the publisher is planning to release it between April 2013 and March 2014.

Sources tell us that they expect EA to release both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Battlefield 4, as well as a PC and maybe even a Mac version of the title. The possibility of a Mac release seems much more possible, as it has been revealed that DICE is porting the Frostbite engine over to the Mac OS X platform. Frostbite will continue to be the engine of choice for EA titles going forward, as a number upcoming titles will be using the engine.

Q: Is this a remake of Battlefield 1942?
A: No. This is the original game Battlefield 1942, for the first time available as a digital download on Origin.

Q: Does this free digital download version include an of the expansion packs originally released for Battlefield 1942 (The Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of WWII)?
A: No.

Q: Can I play online against players who have the original disc-based version?
A: No. This Origin digital download version can only be played against other players who are using the same version. But since it’s free for everyone, everyone can download their own copy of the game. This version of the game will only show applicable (new) servers in the server browser.

Q: What are the differences between this version and the original disc-based version of Battlefield 1942?
A: No practical differences. We have done some under the hood work to make this game from 2002 work as a digital download title on Origin.

Q: Can I run a server for the game?
A: Yes, you can easily run a server from the front end menu within the game client. This server will be visible to all other players via the server browser.

Q: Can I run a dedicated server for the game?
A: Yes, you can run a dedicated server by running the file “DedicatedServer.exe”. It is located in the folder where you installed Battlefield 1942 through Origin. This will present you with all available settings, maps and modes for you to customize before pressing the button “launch server”. This server will be visible to all other players via the server browser.

Q: Do you have official servers set up?
A: We are setting up new servers specifically for this release of the game. You should find them by searching for the phrase “EA PUBLIC”.

Q: I have problems connecting to online games
A: Please note that a sudden surge of players into Battlefield 1942 may make online play temporarily unstable. If this happens, please try again later.

Q: Can I use this version of the game together with old Battlefield 1942 mods?
A: This is untested and we cannot guarantee any mod functionality. Sporadic testing leads us to believe that Desert Combat 0.7 works, as well as Eve of Destruction 2.5. For more discussion on popular mods, head to the new Battlelog forums we have set up specifically for this release of Battlefield 1942. Please share your findings on which mods work and which do not.

Q: Will I need to manually patch this version of the game?
A: No. This version includes any updates needed. If we were to update this version of the game in the future (this is not likely), we will do so via Origin.

Q: I have a question that is not answered here. Where do I go?
A: Please note that while we are proud to present this game to all of our fans after 10 years, we are not able to actively support it from a customer support standpoint. Tailoring this disc based game to work as a digital download title has been a labor of love from us at DICE, and we are very proud to be able to offer this classic to everyone for free.

However, we are not able to support it the same way we are supporting Battlefield 3 and its expansion packs. We are hoping that those who find Battlefield 1942 interesting will have patience with any issues they experience and that they will help each other on the EA Answer HQ at http://answers.ea.com/.

Last weekend, we ran a massively popular Battlefield 3™ Double XP event. This weekend, we are happy to offer all Battlefield 3™ Premium members their first of many exclusive Double XP events!

Join the fun this weekend. If you're a Premium member, you'll earn double XP Saturday and Sunday.

This means that everyone who is a Premium member will get double XP the entire upcoming weekend. Like before, this is valid across all maps and modes, as long as you play on ranked servers. Per Battlelog:

Here’s a great chance to rank up faster and have great fun while doing it. This weekend, we are running a new double XP event for everyone! On June 16-17, your sum total for every round will be effectively doubled, visible at the End of Round screen. This applies to any map and any mode, as long as you play on a ranked server.

You can see the full details of this event below. Basically, play Saturday and Sunday to rank up faster! And if you’re a Battlefield 3 Premium member, you already have access to the Close Quarters expansion pack and get double XP on those maps as well.

RUMOUR: EA Rumoured to be Unveiling "Battlefield Premium" At E3

Battlefieldo is reporting that EA is set to introduce a COD Elite-like service for its Battlefield franchise.

Called, "Battlefield Premium" the purported service would be subscription-based and bear some similarities to Elite, with content drops, personalization options and more.

From the post:

Battlefield™ Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options.

The date for this alleged reveal: Monday June 4, so early on during E3.

The same post alludes to some other Battlefield items, including a June 12 date for the Close Quarters expansion pack. We've reached out to EA.
